Business-to-Business Study for a Public Sector Body

400, 30 minute interviews with painters and decorators on behalf of a public sector body dealing with health and safety issues.  The main challenge on this project was to persuade respondents, many of whom were self-employed, to give up 30 minutes of their time to participate in the study.  This was dealt with by:

  • Ensuring that interviewers were suitably briefed so as to quickly engage respondents with the importance of the study
  • Having a flexible approach to making appointments at times most suitable for respondents working irregular hours – any time; any day
  • Careful management of the sample to ensure maximum response rates through systematic calling patterns and ‘cherishing’ each contact
